Calling the Vungle SDK

There are different ways for an ad to trigger a download/call-to-action (CTA) using Adaptive Creative. You can implement the following:

  1. On user interaction of a CTA button.
    • E.g a user physically tapping/clicking on a CTA button
  2. At a specific state within the ad experience, which could be one of the following:
    • When the user has interacted a certain number of times.
    • When the user has consumed a significant duration of the ad
      1. E.g. Completed a playable game
      2. E.g. Browsed through the majority of the content on a carousel
The state described in the second bullet point is closely related to what is known as ASOI (App Store on Interaction).

 

App Store on Interaction (ASOI)

What is ASOI?

ASOI (App Store on Interaction) is a feature integrated within Adaptive Creative to correctly trigger call-to-action events. These events are aligned with Publisher settings based on different states. These events can be:

  • At a specific state within the ad experience, which could be one of the following:

    • When the user has interacted a certain number of times

    • When the user has consumed a significant duration of the ad:

      • E.g. Completed a playable game

      • E.g. Browsed through the majority of the content on a carousel

 

Why does ASOI exist?

ASOI is used to deliver high-quality experiences, with a focus on user experience and consistency, while also driving creative performance. ASOI also allows us to block creatives that trigger a call-to-action immediately when the ad begins.

 

How does ASOI work?

There are three levels of ASOI - aggressive, complete and off.

When a creative is built, it should always contain the most aggressive form of ASOI (based on default values as recommended by Vungle), which is the highest level of the three ASOI levels. By doing this, the creative can dynamically adapt to all levels through the use of Publisher settings.

  ASOI is controlled by the Publisher in the Application settings page in the Self-serve dashboard.

The publisher has the overarching control to choose which is the best ASOI setting to display ads on their platform.

Aggressive

Trigger a call-to-action after the user interacts with the ad.

If the user interacts with the ad (interacting by tapping/clicking anywhere within the ad), Adaptive Creative will trigger a CTA after a few seconds.

How many user interactions before a call-to-action event will trigger?

Vungle have by default set the CTA event to trigger after 1 interaction (tap or click). Once the user has interacted, there is a delay of 2 seconds before the event is triggered.

Complete

Trigger a call-to-action once the ad has completed a specific milestone/duration of the ad experience.

Adaptive Creative will trigger a CTA once the user has consumed a significant duration of the ad (the developer defines this event inside the creative after a significant duration or number of interactions).

Off

No call-to-action will be triggered automatically.

Adaptive Creative will not trigger a CTA automatically, irrespective of whether the user has interacted with the ad. The user has to explicitly tap/click on a CTA button to trigger a CTA.
